We are pleased to share our Individual Member Survey for 2023. We're delighted by the response and the valuable feedback it contains.
Respondents to this survey were overwhelmingly neurodiverse themselves, and nearly all already work in our industry.
The survey shows how this group feel about our industry’s workplaces and how well employers match person, role, and environment to enable them to achieve and expand their potential. It reveals some of the challenges faced by neurodivergent individuals in terms of bringing their whole selves to work, and the outlook they have towards progression and career growth!
Thank you to everyone who took part, the information gathered will act as a forerunner to the work of GAIN over 2024 and beyond.
Supporting Networks that Empower a Diverse Community
by Barbara Schonhofer MBE, Co-chair of GAIN, featured in CIO Views
Barbara shares her work-life journey of building supportive networks that empower diverse communities, and how it has led her to champion neurodiversity in the insurance, savings, and investment industry.
Barbara shares, "Well-being and talent are at the top of board agendas, companies are realising they need to operate and think differently whilst sharing a common goal. In order to open up the talent pool and get the best out of its people, the industry needs to acknowledge difference, flex the environment, and allow for individuals to thrive." Are we truly embracing diversity of thought?
by Francis McGee, Executive Chair of GAIN, featured in Intelligent Insurer Review
Our world is changing. As we become increasingly reliant on artificial intelligence (AI) within the insurance industry; data analysis, pattern recognition, and machine learning beckon a workforce who can think differently.
As we look for a new kind of employee, is it time to recognise the hidden talent within our existing teams, who may be afraid to show you who they really are?
With foresight and ingenuity, neurodivergent individuals offer diversity of thought, excelling in roles such as data technology, risk, compliance, digital transformation, and operations. Take a moment to read the full article.
Why I choose to disclose. Count me in – yes please!
By Nalini Solanki, GAIN Individual Member & Diversity Project Ambassador & Co-Chair, Neurodiversity Workstream
Nalini shares her personal journey of why she choose to disclose she is neurodivergent.
She writes, "The word disability may have negative connotations for some, but I’ve come to realise that for me it’s just a word that implies different abilities. For far too long I made excuses for myself, not wanting to be viewed as anyone less than, not realising that I was doing just that."
